Finished College

Well, yesterday I handed in my Final Major Project and it signaled the end of an era. This year has gone so fast and I have learned more than I ever thought I would. I know that this knowledge will be invaluable when I go to University in September. Now, I need to start to build up a serious photographic portfolio of my work.
The people I have met and grown close to over the last year will, hopefully, become life long friends.
We have been a very lucky group of students. All getting on, helping each other, encouraging each other when things went wrong etc. I'm definitely going to miss all the laughter and good times we have shared together.
I can feel an annual reunion being organised for the coming years xx

Final Major Project Exhibition

I wanted to show the ever changing architecture of Carlisle in Cumbria. Having lived here all my life, I have seen many changes and recently there have been more architectural changes. Many of our buildings, having been either damaged by floods in 2005, or just through old age, have been replaced by new buildings. I wanted to illustrate the difference in the two types of architecture i.e. Old & New.
I chose 3 different sites. Carlisle Police Station, Carlisle Courts of Justice & Cumbria Archive Centre. Creating the 'Old' in black & white and their 'new' replacement buildings were to be in colour.
The final addition was to take a photograph of one of Carlisles landmarks, Dixons Chimney, and create a large, 3m print to convey the sheer scale of this piece of architecture.
